As the rapper Common offers during a Microsoft AI commercial:
“It’s not about what technology can do. It’s about what you can do with it.”
Microsoft is right. It’s not about technology is capable of doing. It’s about what you can do with technology to:
- Simplify business execution
- Reduce cycle times
- Eliminate errors
- Reduce people dependencies and instill process dependencies
- Facilitate collaboration
- Reduce friction within your organization
- Receive critical insights about performance within your organization
The technology is a platform with which you have the opportunity to create the outcomes outlined above.
An organization has to be very intentional about setting out to achieve these outcomes. You have to “make the complex simple around people, process and technology” if you are to derive value from the technology. The technology does not do this by itself.
